Proponents of authoritarianism
within our society have created a system of so-called criminal justice
that is itself criminal. Frequently described with words like
Byzantine and Kafkaesque, it is, broadly speaking, more a system of
scapegoating than anything else.
No group has been harder hit by the scapegoating trend than man/boy
lovers. If ensnared in the system, we -- both men and boys -- are
subject to a litany of injustices: forced “therapies,” long prison
sentences, impossible terms for parole, lifetime registration and
community notification, and for some, indefinite confinement after
their sentence has been served.
A man may be subjected to any or all of these things for so much as
touching the leg of a teenaged boy, even if it was in response to the
boy’s own request. The boy’s intentions, actions, and experience
of the event are not considered at all in determining the man’s
fate. This system needlessly destroys the lives of thousands of
men and boys each year.
